A bill aimed at spurring housing construction in rural Nebraska advanced in the Unicameral.
Senator Matt Williams of Gothenburg sponsors the Rural Workforce Housing Investment Act, which would subsidize housing construction in less-populated areas of the state. . .

The measure proposes transferring 7-Million dollars from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund to create a new fund which would guarantee home loans and provide low-interest loans to build houses or rental units.
Senator Paul Schumacher of Columbus says the shift to subsidize housing and rental construction in rural Nebraska will help, somewhat. . .

Schumacher says the state must re-think how best to stimulate economic development in rural Nebraska.
