At the end of its current season NASCAR will surpass 10 million competitive miles running on SUNOCO Green E-15, a biofuel blended with 15 percent ethanol. Growth Energy has been working with NASCAR which added the fuel in 2011. Growth Energy’s Majda Sarkic says the fuel not only helps the performance of the race car engines, it also benefits the environment.
She says NASCAR has shown that there should be more E 15 offered to consumers.
Sarkic says the success of E-15 and the amount of miles traveled on it should send a message to the EPA to lift the renewable fuel volume obligations for 2017 to the statutory levels.
Meanwhile NASCAR’’s Chief Operating Officer Brent Dewar says the 10 million mile E-15 milestone is the result of an industry wide commitment that demonstrates high performance racing with reduced emissions
