Growth Energy Comments On LCFS In Washington State

Both Washington and Oregon state officials are looking at incorporating a low carbon fuel standard. Growth Energy has weighed in with Washington State on the issue and will be weighing in shortly with Oregon. CEO Tom Buis says the concern is that if those states were to structure their carbon standard with California’s that would hurt ethanol and not sufficiently reduce greenhouse gasses.
Buis says if the low carbon fuel standard is structured properly there will be proper use of ethanol and renewable fuels and that will have a positive effect on the environment.
Growth Energy’s comments submitted to Washington State officials outlined to date there has been no net reduction in greenhouse gas emissions nationwide, that the only impact has been fuel shuffling.
