USDA has announced the results of the request for referendum on the soy checkoff. United Soybean Board Secretary Lewis Bainbridge says the results fall short of the 10-percent needed to prompt a referendum.
He says the results show that U.S. soybean farmers see the value in the soy checkoff especially when it comes to international market development.
Every five years the federal checkoff act requires a vote to determine if a referendum is needed.
