Common Sense Nebraska, a coalition of farm and business and consumer groups, is expressing concern with Clean Water Rule released Wednesday by EPA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The rule is a finalization of the original Waters of the U.S. Rule. Common Sense member and Nebraska Farm Bureau President Steve Nelson says they want to study the rule but have concerns initially with how the government is proceeding.

EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy says their rule is not an expansion of their regulatory powers and they’re not trying to regulate every puddle, stream or water source. However, Nelson doubts that’s the case and says the rule looks like a land grab.

Nelson says their coalition wants to make sure private property rights are protected from this type of a rule.
