The Soy Transportation Coalition, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and American Feed Industry Associations are disappointed the SAFE Trucking Act Amendment was not included in the recently passed highway bill. Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek says lawmakers missed an opportunity to help agriculture and other industries by making freight transportation more efficient.
He says railroad officials worked to get the amendment defeated.
Steenhoek says there isn’t any way to correct this problem now as the amendment is basically dead.
The SAFE Trucking Act amendment was defeated on a 236 to 187 vote.
