South Dakota State University wrestler Seth Gross is slated to compete Friday at the U.S. Open in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Gross will be competing as a member of the Jackrabbit Wrestling Club in the 61-kilogram weight class, which features 27 wrestlers.
Gross is slated to take on Shelton Mack of the Titan Mercury Wrestling Club in the opening round of the Senior Men’s Freestyle competition.
The U.S. Open serves as a qualifying tournament for the World Team Trials, which will be held in June.
A native of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Gross completed his sophomore season at SDSU this spring with a runner-up finish in the 133-poiund weight class at the 2017 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. He compiled a 34-2 overall record and was undefeated in dual competition at 17-0.
Gross also became the first Jackrabbit to win an individual Big 12 Conference title and was named the Most Outstanding Performer of the Big 12 Conference Wrestling Championship.
