Green Island Added to Missouri River National Recreational River

The National Park Service is adding some land to the Missouri National Recreational River. A ceremony marked the addition of Green Island to the park.
Superintendent Rick Clark said the sixty acre island adds more features to the river park……


The island, just upstream of the Discovery Bridge, was privately owned, , then bought by the State of Nebraska when the bridge was built. Nebraska then gave it to the park service.
Clark says the addition works in well with developments along the north bank of the river………


Clark, who came to the river park in January, says it is a unique place…………
