Farm Bill conference negotiators are working to get the 2018 farm bill completed but likely won’t have any movement until next week at the earliest. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley is not happy that his payment limits, actively engaged in farming provision is not in the final bill.
He’s also upset the final House version of the bill contains a measure that allows nieces and nephews and others to access farm program payments.
Grassley says he’s very disappointed Senate Ag Chairman Pat Roberts caved in to House demands to let so many access farm program payments. He says conferees have worsened the overall farm legislation.
Grassley says if the final farm bill gives producers five year certainty and addresses trade war concerns he might consider voting for it.
