Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley has pushed for farm program payments limits with past farm bills and is hoping to get it included in the Senate’s 2018 farm legislation. He says one of the most important components of the new farm bill is to limit payments to a one farm manager approach.
He says farmers concerns are covered if the requirement for farm program payments is tied to one manager actively engaged in farming.
Grassley expects the Senate farm bill discussions to come up next week but says Senate Ag Chairman Pat Roberts has not released the full schedule yet.
The House is scheduled to take up the farm bill for a second vote June 22.
