This past week, OPEC nations had announced they would reduce oil production by as much as one million barrels a day. Upon the announcement, gasoline prices jumped up by as much as six cents a gallon, with expectations gasoline prices will continue to climb through the summer. U-S Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa says he will contact Environmental Protection Agency administrator Michael Regan to place pressure on him to allow E-15 blended ethanol for the summer would be a good choice by the EPA.
A year ago at this time of year President Biden visited an Iowa ethanol plant and had announced the approval of granting E-15 to be sold for last summer. Grassley says he will give the Biden administration, and the EPA, until mid-April to make a similar announcement.
Grassley says he will wait until April 10th for the EPA to act. Otherwise he says he will contact EPA administrator Regan to urge him to approve E-15 for this summer.
