A fourth railroad union has rejected the offer negotiated by the Biden Administration to settle a possible rail strike. All 12 rail unions must agree on the terms of an agreement in order to prevent a possible rail strike with the December 9th deadline approaching. U-S Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa addressed the issue during his weekly news conference. He says if the railroads do go on strike, it would devastate the economy. The Iowa senior senator was asked by agriculture media as to when Congress should step in and act to prevent the potential rail strike. Grassley was asked if congressional democrats would support a measure for Congress to intervene to prevent a possible nationwide rail strike? A rail strike would cripple the agriculture economy since grain would no longer be transported to processing facilities, livestock operations, or shipping ports. Much of the nation’s ethanol would be stopped from being transported, and fertilizer and other agricultural crop protection products would not be able to be hauled to agriculture supply warehouses.
