South Korea will hold a second round of trade talks with the United States next month. That meeting set for October 4 comes on the heels of the Trump administration wanting to either renegotiate KORUS or withdraw from the deal. Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley met with South Korea’s trade minister. He says it’s important the U.S. keep the gains they made in the original FTA.
He thinks the President wants South Korea to allow imports of U.S. automobiles.
Grassley doesn’t want the U.S. to withdraw from KORUS and thinks the President is more concerned with the problems with North Korea than with any possible trade issues with South Korea.
South Korea is the fifth largest U.S. agricultural export market.
