Grassley Comments On EPA Decision

Grassley Comments On EPA Decision

Last week the Environmental Protection Agency announced that it will allow E-15 blended ethanol to be used throughout the entire year at eight Midwestern states.  However, the announcement came with a caveat that the ruling would not begin until 2024.  U-S Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa commented on the EPA announcement during his weekly news conference.

Grassley says there may be an opportunity to change EPA’s mind and to allow E-15 to be used this summer.  The Iowa Republican says the industry is looking for news to invest for the future.

Grassley doubts whether there is enough support in both the Senate and the House to approve the measure through congressional action.  He says even if there was wide support for E-15 with legislators, he says New York Democratic Senator and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer would not allow it to be brought to a vote, because Schumer has no interest in ethanol.
