Grassley Believes U-S Government Will Not Default On Loans

Congressional leaders met with President Biden and other White House officials yesterday (Tuesday) to continue discussions regarding the debt ceiling, and to avoid a possible default on the nation’s loans.  House republicans would like to see some reduction in spending, while the Biden administration wants to expand the debt ceiling.  A deadline of June 1st has been imposed before the government does default on our loans.  Although no agreement has been reached, U-S Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa told reporters that he doesn’t see the government will default on its financial obligations.

Grassley says even though Treasury Secretary Yellen is in Japan, she says progress is being made with the budget negotiations between Congress and the White House.

Some people are wondering if an agreement will be made before Congress takes a recess for the Memorial Day holiday.
