A federal court judge in Washington, D.C. has approved a Freedom of Information Act request for data from the Office of Inspector General on behalf of the Organization for Competitive Markets and R-CALF. OCM President Mike Callicrate says they’ve been seeking information regarding the workings of the $1-per-head beef checkoff.

He says both OCM and R-CALF have been unhappy with how the beef checkoff program has been run.

Callicrate says their next move will be to see the beef checkoff funding is taken away from NCBA.

The Cattlemen’s Beef Board and the USDA oversee the collection and spending of beef checkoff dollars.
