The U.S. Grains Council reports that U.S. ethanol exports are expected to be the second largest on record this year. Grains Council Chairman and Nebraska farmer Alan Tiemann says not only is their promotion efforts working for shipping out more ethanol but the potential is even greater going forward.
Grains Council has been working with the Renewable Fuels Association, Growth Energy and USDA’s foreign agricultural service on an ethanol export promotion program. Tiemann says although the U.S. has some competition for the global ethanol market, one of our competitors is actually also one of our customers.
Tiemann says even though U.S. ethanol exports to Canada have gone down slightly, that could ramp up when the Trans Pacific Partnership agreement is finalized and adopted.
During the first ten months of this marketing year U.S. ethanol exports are up 11 percent over last year.
