Reassuring U.S. trading partners and enhancing trade is a major priority for newly elected U.S. Grains Council Chair Deb Keller, a Clarion, Iowa farmer.
She says several U.S. commodity customers are nervous about America stepping away from prior trade negotiations and deals.

She wants the Council to work on expanding trade with potential global customers especially with value added ag products.
Keller says the NAFTA modernization talks are a great opportunity to keep what’s worked in the original deal and improve it as well as reassure Canada and Mexico we can supply them the commodities that they need and want.

Keller adds it’s important U.S. farmers and ranchers remain engaged in pushing our government for a strong trade policy.
