The U.S. House Agriculture Committee approved the United States Grain Standards Reauthorization Act of 2015. National Grain and Feed Association President Randy Gordon says that approval by the committee is a good step in the right direction. He says that measure gives USDA the power to set U.S. grain standards and quality specifications for U.S. number 2 yellow corn and number 1 soybeans.
Gordon says the legislation addressed a problem that occurred earlier and disrupted exports. He says the bill passed by the House Ag panel contains a provision that solves that and puts in protections for any future problems like that.
The Grain Standards are set to expire in September.
