Burlington Northern Santa Fe Rail officials say they will invest $ 326 million to upgrade rail capacity improvement projects in North Dakota this year. North Dakota Grain Dealer’s Association Executive Vice President Stu Letcher is pleased with the decision and thinks that’ll be helpful for the state’s farmers and ranchers
Letcher says while the rail back log was an issue last year they’re now seeing a different problem with many producers holding onto their grain and storing it.
Letcher says they’re also watching to see what happens with the slowdown at West Coast Ports as much of their grain gets shipped that direction for export.
