Grain Facility Ground Breaking Held

Ground was broken Wednesday on the largest project ever undertaken by United Farmers Cooperative of Iowa and Minnesota.  UFC General Manager and Grain Merchandiser Jeff Christiansen says their multi million dollar grain storage facility when completed will have a capacity of 1 million bushels of grain. He says that’s up from the 550,000 capacity they had before. Christiansen says they’re just trying to catch up with area farmers.

Christiansen says their goal is to have the facility completed in time to take harvested crops this fall.

United Farmers Cooperative has facilities in Bigelow and Rushmore Minnesota and in George, Allendorf and Ashton Iowa.
