This week is Grain Bin Safety Week in Nebraska. As a result, the Nebraska Corn Growers Association and Corn Board are working to increase awareness about grain bin safety on farms and commercial grain handling facilities to prevent accidents. Corn Grower’s Program Director Morgan Wrich says its important farmers avoid going into the grain bin and make sure another person is with them at all times.

She says Nebraska had 22 grain bin entrapments in 2015 which resulted in 11 fatalities, so it’s important producers slow down and stay alert.

Wrich says this week Corn Board and Association members are concentrating on educational programs to help keep farmers safe.

You can find more specific information on those events on the Nebraska Corn Growers Association or Corn Board’s websites.
