Dakota Wesleyan, Northwestern and Hastings led a sweep of wins by GPAC teams at the women’s NAIA tournament in Sioux City Thursday.

As the defending national champion, sometimes the pressure to repeat can mount and show in a performance in a return trip. This has been far from the case with the Dakota Wesleyan women’s basketball team, a team that dominated the St. Thomas Bobcats 97-66 on Thursday.

It took all four quarters, but the Northwestern Red Raiders were able to stave off a pesky Olivet Nazarene Tigers squad at the Tyson Event Center on Thursday by the score of 93-80.

The Hastings College women’s basketball team had their defense show up big when it counted, advancing to the second round of the NAIA National Championship with a 54-46 victory over the Aquinas Saints.

Concordia(Ne) joins the other three GPAC teams in Friday’s second round play.
