Both GPAC women’s basketball teams in action at the national NAIA tourney in Sioux City Thursday moved on with first round victories.

The Bulldogs of Concordia (Neb.) knew they had to get off to a fast start in the 2015 NAIA Division II Women’s National Championship, presented by State Farm, after getting bounced in the first round each of the last two seasons. Concordia left little doubt from the first whistle, running away from Bryan (Tenn.), 76-35, at the Tyson Events Center Thursday afternoon.

Drew Olson’s No. 1-seeded squad was dominant from the very beginning, especially inside the lane, dominating on both ends of the court. The Bulldogs had their way in the paint, holding a 40-12 advantage close to the goal. Additionally, second-chance points were also one-sided at 21-5.

It was a game of wills between No. 3 Hastings (Neb.) and No. 6 Rio Grande (Ohio) on Wednesday evening inside the Tyson Events Center at the 2015 NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship, presented by State Farm. Seven ties and six lead changes later, the Broncos were able to outlast the RedStorm, 73-64, in a hard-fought battle.
