Honors for the 2017 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Outdoor Track and Field Season have been announced.
The top Track and Field Performances-of-the-Meet and the Coach-of-the-Year honors were voted on by the league coaches. GPAC Athlete-of-the-Year honors went to the highest individual point scorers in the meet.
The Outstanding Performances -of-the-Meet were voted on by the league coaches and are as follows:
Women’s Track Performance – Miranda Velgersdyk, Dordt – 400 Meters (54.65)
Women’s Field Performance – Anna Megenhardt, Hastings – Pole Vault (12-08.75)
Men’s Track Performance – Northwestern 4×800 Relay (7:40.06) (Tanner Goetsch, Hans Ep, Tim Rose, and Peter Hollinger)
Men’s Field Performance – Zach Lurz, Concordia – Hammer Throw (202-01)
Shantinique Cunningham from Hastings and Lucas Wiechman from Concordia were named the Hauff Mid-America Sports GPAC Outdoor Track and Field Outstanding Athletes-of-the-Year. Cunningham scored 33.50 points for Hastings, while Wiechman scored 43.75 points for Concordia.
Ed Fye from Doane has been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women’s and Men’s Coach-of-the-Year. The Tigers won the women’s and men’s titles on Saturday.
