Morningside’s women hold an 11 stroke lead as 36 holes in the 2016-17 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Golf Championships presented by Cypress Risk Management are now complete.
Round two was played Monday in Columbus, Nebraska, at Quail Run.
The Mustangs now have a 36-hole total of 671 and lead second place Briar Cliff who sits at 682. Mount Marty is in third with 687.
In the medalist race Logan Wagner from Mount Marty shot a round of 77 and now has a 36 hole total of 154. She holds a five stroke lead on Amy Ahlers from Concordia who has a 36hole total of 159 and had the low score of round two with a 76. Kristin Sabers from Dakota Wesleyan is in third with a 161 after a 78 on Monday.
Round three will start at 9am on Tuesday morning with tee times at Quail Run. Round four will follow after a brief break upon completion of round three.
Monday’s temperatures were in the low 60’s with winds of 20-30 mph at times.
The 2016-17 GPAC Golf Championships are being played on neutral courses. The first 18 holes were played in the fall at Willow Run in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
