Three players from colleges in Nebraska rate weekly football honors this week from the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

Offense – Jack Shadley, Quarterback (Doane University)
Doane quarterback Jack Shadley is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Shadley, a junior from Columbus, Nebraska, had a career-high 292 yards passing and threw three touchdowns in the NAIA Football Game of the Week as the fifth-ranked Tigers defeated 14th-ranked Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell for the first time since 2004. Shadley was 21-of-32 through the air and added 27 rushing yards and a touchdown. In addition he had five punts for 158 yards (31.6) and dropped two inside the 20 yard line. Doane will host 20th-ranked Concordia University on September 24.   Kick off will be at 1pm.

Defense – Tariq Mustafaa, Defensive Back (Doane University)
Doane defensive back Tariq Mustafaa is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Mustafaa, a junior, from Cedar Hill, Texas, had several momentum changing plays during the game at Dakota Wesleyan in the NAIA Game of the Week – an INT for a TD, fumble recovery and blocked PAT. In the first quarter he intercepted a pass and returned it 28 yards to the end zone to put Doane up 21-0. After DWU scored back-to-back touchdowns in the 3rd quarter, Mustafaa blocked the PAT attempt and teammate Trent Jeary returned it for 2-points. Mustafaa also had a fumble recovery in the game. Doane will host 20th-ranked Concordia University on September 24.   Kick off will be at 1pm.

Special Teams – Nick Giaffoglione, Kicker (Hastings College)
Hastings kicker Nick Giaffoglione is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Giaffoglione, a senior, from Omaha, Nebraska, accounted for 14 points in the Broncos defeat of Jamestown on Saturday. In the third quarter he hit a 40-yard field goal in to the breeze to bring the Broncos within one at 28-27 and then late in the fourth quarter he hit a 43-yard field goal to put the Broncos up by 10 at 44-34. This season he is a perfect 15-for-15 on extra points and 3-for-3 on field goals with a long of 43-yards. Hastings will travel to Orange City, Iowa, on Saturday to take on Northwestern. Kick off will be at 1pm.
