GPAC Tabs Weekly Honors

The Great Plains Athletic Conference has announced its weekly awards for the league’s women’s and men’s basketball players.

Women – Hanah Barnard, Doane University (Guard)

  Doane guard Hanah Barnard is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports women’s basketball player-of-the-week.  Barnard, a senior from Beatrice, Nebraska, averaged 26 points as she shot 68-percent from the floor and hit 9-of-11 (82-percent) from behind the arc. She had a career-high five steals to go with her season-high 27 points in the win over Bellevue. Against Dakota State, she had 25 points in 17 minutes. For the weekend, she scored 52 points in 50 minutes of play.

                 

Men – Chandler Folkerts, Concordia University (Center)

  Concordia center Chandler Folkerts is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports men’s basketball player-of-the-week.  Folkerts, a senior from Milford, Nebraska, totaled 45 points and 18 rebounds while making 16-of-17 (.941) shots from the floor over two games last week. Folkerts went a perfect 7-for-7 from the field and racked up a game high 25 points in Concordia’s 91-77 upset of 17th-ranked York College on Nov. 12. He is averaging 20.2 points and 8.8 rebounds and is shooting 69.6 percent from the field this season.
