Honors for the 2015 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Indoor Track and Field Season have been announced.
The top Performances-of-the-Meet and the Coach-of-the-Year honors were voted on by the league coaches. GPAC Athlete-of-the-Year honors went to the highest individual point scorers in the meet. Also, the top eight individuals in each event are considered GPAC All-Conference performers.
Lauren Shomaker from Hastings has earned the Most Outstanding Performances-of-the-Meet for the Women, while Augustus Cowen from Briar Cliff earned Most Outstanding Performance-of-the-Meet for the Men. Shomaker set a GPAC record in winning the 3,000 meters with the time of 10:16.71. Cowan set a league record in winning the triple jump with a mark of 15.7 meters (51-06.25).
Neeia Cooperwood from Morningside and Rusty Muncy were named the Hauff Mid-America Sports GPAC Indoor Track and Field Outstanding Athletes-of-the-Year. Cooperwood scored 41 points for Morningside, while Muncy scored 30.5 points for Briar Clif.
Ed Fye from Doane has been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Women’s Coach-of-the-Year, while Nate Treinen from Briar Cliff and Ed Fye from Doane earned GPAC Men’s Indoor Track and Field Co-Coach-of-the-Year honors. Doane College won the team titles for both the women and the men.
