Corey Matthey from Morningside and Amy Ahlers of Concordia have been named the GPAC Mens & Women’s Golfers-of-the-year and headline the 2017 GPAC Golf All-Conference teams.
Matthey claimed overall medalist honors for the GPAC Qualifiers with a 72-hole total of 302 to out distance the field.
Ahlers claimed overall medalist honors for the GPAC Qualifiers with a 72-hole total of 319, five strokes better than the rest of the field.
Ben Irlbeck from Briar Cliff has been selected as the GPAC Women’s Golf Coach-of-the-Year. Irlbeck coached Briar Cliff to the team title in the GPAC for 2016-17. The Chargers advance to the NAIA National Golf Championships in in Palm Beach, Florida, at PGA National-Fazio Course. The event runs May 23-26, 2017. Ahlers also advances as the GPAC Individual Medalist.
Aaron Aberson from Northwestern has been selected as the GPAC Men’s Golf Coach-of-the-Year. Aberson coached the Red Raiders to the team title this year with a four round total of 1240. Northwestern advances to the NAIA Men’s Golf National Championships on May 16-19, 2017 at TPC Deer Run, Moline, Illinois. Matthey, the GPAC medalist, also advances to the championships
