The top basketball players in the Great Plains Athletic Conference for the first week of 2018 have been announced.
Women – Amber Bray, Dakota Wesleyan University (Forward)
Dakota Wesleyan forward Amber Bray is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports women’s basketball player-of-the-week. Bray, a senior from Anoka, Minnesota, tallied her 1,000th-career point after a 25-point performance in an 82-58 victory over No. 6 Morningside. She also added 12 rebounds to notch a double-double. In the win over College of Saint Mary on Saturday, she recorded 22 points and was 4-of-5 from beyond the arc and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line.
Men – Nathan Wedel, Northwestern College (Guard)
Northwestern guard Nathan Wedel is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports men’s basketball player-of-the-week. Wedel, a senior from Yale, South Dakota, averaged 27.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and six assists in leading Northwestern to road wins over Mount Marty and Midland. Wedel shot 62% from the field and 93% (13-of-14) from the free throw line. He was just one assist shy of a double-double against Midland, recording nine assists along with 28 points, six boards and a steal.
