GPAC Names Volleyball Stars

– The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports have announced the volleyball players-of-the-week for August 25 – 31, 2014.

Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2014-2015 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Volleyball Players-of-the-Week

Player – Kaitlin Floerchinger, Northwestern College (Outside Hitter)

Northwestern College outside hitter Kaitlin Floerchinger is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Player-of-the-Week. Floerchinger, a senior, from Treynor, Iowa, helped guide the 5th ranked Red Raiders to a 4-0 record at the Bruins Labor Day Classic last weekend. She accounted for over 60 kills on the weekend, including 20 kills in a win over #24 Davenport. It was the third match she has had 20 or more kills this season. Floerchinger also added 13 aces, 8 blacks and hit .305 for the week.

Setter- Kayla Bartman, Dordt College

Dordt College setter Kayla Bartman is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. Bartman, a senior from Sioux Center, Iowa, helped lead the Defenders to a 3-1 record. Bartman racked up 127 assists in four matches. She averaged 9.1 assists per set this past week with a match high of 40 assists against Montana State-Northern. In addition to distributing the ball, she also accounted for 26 digs, and hit .358 for the week, accounting for 15 kills while serving up four aces for the Defenders.

Defensive- Jill Bax, Hastings College – Defensive Specialist

Hastings College defensive specialist Jill Bax is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Bax, a freshman from Lincoln, Nebraska, helped lead the Broncos to a 3-1 record on the week totaling 84 digs over 17 games on the weekend. Bax averaged 4.8 digs per game for the Broncos who were receiving votes in the last poll She had an impressive 34 digs against Clarke College at the Bruins Labor Day Classic.
