GPAC Names Top Runners

The Great Plains Athletic Conference has announced its weekly awards for the league’s top cross country runners.

Women-Nicole Slater, Dordt College

Dordt’s Nicole Slater is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week.  Slater, a freshman from Rushmore, Minnesota, ran an individual time of 16:58 in the Augustana College Twilight last Friday in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She placed 12th overall out of 266 runners in the race.  The race included NCAA Division I and II schools.  Slater was the top finisher from a NAIA school.

 

Men – Alec DeVries, Morningside College            Morningside’s Alec DeVries is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week.  DeVries, a sophomore from Merril, Iowa, ran an individual time of 19:03 in the Augustana College Twilight last Friday in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  He placed 13th overall out of 287 runners in a field  that was comprised with a majority of NCAA Division I and II runners in the race. DeVries was the top finisher from a NAIA school.
