Only one of four Great Plains Athletic Conference men’s basketball teams remains alive at the national NAIA tourney in Missouri.

Colton Kooima knocked down a contested jumper with three seconds left to give No.4 Northwestern a thrilling 78-76 win over No.5 Washington Adventist.

Northwestern College, the Great Plains Athletic Conference tournament champion, moves on with a 27-6 record, the most wins since 2007-08 season. Northwestern will face  No.1 Indiana Wesleyan in a second round game on Friday,

 No.6 Bellevue edged No.3 Briar Cliff 80-75 in the final game of the first round of the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship.

The Bruins earned their second win over Briar Cliff this season and are the second No. 6 seed to advance to Friday’s second round action.
