Weekly honors in soccer were announced Tuesday by the Great Plains Athletic Conference.
Women’s Offense – Megan Kruse, Hastings College (Midfielder)
Megan Kurse of Hastings is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Kruse, a senior, from Gretna, Nebraska, picked up what proved to be the equalizer against Concordia and then went for the hat-trick against Briar Cliff. Her offense has helped the Lady Broncos out to a 9-1-1 start and a No. 11 ranking this season.
Women’s Defense – Madison Fordyce, Northwestern College (Goalkeeper)
Madison Fordyce of Northwestern is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Fordyce, a freshman, from Dugald, Manitoba, picked up two shut-outs on the week including a shut-out of RV-Midland, the 3rd best scoring offense in the NAIA, averaging 4.10 goals per game entering the match. She made eight saves en route to her fifth shut-out of the season and fourth consecutive shut-out with her as the Red Raider keeper.
Men’s Offense – Dan Wheeler, Midland University (Forward)
Dan Wheeler of Midland is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Wheeler, a freshman, from Highworth, United Kingdom, netted the first goal of the game at Northwestern on Saturday which stood as the game winner. He also added an assist later in the game as Midland rolled to its fourth straight victory. The freshman is tied for fifth in the GPAC in goals (8) and ranks sixth in total points (18) this season.
Men’s Defense – Erik Tello, Hastings College (Defender)
Erik Tello of Hastings is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Tello, a sophomore, from Houston, Texas, has been a consistent force for the Broncos defense and he made a huge contribution on offense scoring the game winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Concordia. He also played a critical part in shutting out Concordia and Briar Cliff to keep the Broncos undefeated at 11-0.
