The Great Plains Athletic Conference has announced its weekly performers of the week in Track and Field.
Field Events – Auora Arevalo, Morningside College
Auora Arevalo of Morningside is this week’s field athlete-of-the-week. Arevalo, a sophomore from Lenox, Iowa, won the heptathlon at the Red Raider Open with 4119 points for the 10th highest point total in the NAIA so far this season. She led all performers in the 200-meters, javelin and shot put en route to her Red Raider Open title.
Track Events – Miranda Velgersdyk, Dordt College
Miranda Velgersdyk of Dordt is this week’s track athlete-of-the-week. Belgersdyk, a junior from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, took gold in all three events she participated in at the Red Raider Open. She won the 400 with a time of 56.01, a NAIA automatic qualifying mark, and also was a part of the winning 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams for the Defenders.
Men….
Field Events – Cody Boellstorff, Concordia University
Cody Boellstorff of Concordia is this week’s field athlete-of-the-week. Boellstorff, a senior from Waverly, Nebraska, added to his NAIA best mark in the hammer throw with a personal best toss of 216′ 6″ at the NAIA Midwest Quad hosted by Grand View (Iowa). That marks tops the nation by exactly 10 feet. Boellstorff earned a total of 21 team points at the NAIA Midwest Quad, where the Bulldogs took first place as a team.
Track Events – Michael Tross, Doane University
Michael Tross of Doane is this week’s track athlete-of-the-week. Tross, a junior from Sandy Point, Saint Kitts, won the 100m dash during a dual meet. His time in the 100 (10.74) is the best time in the GPAC this season and met the provisional NAIA qualifying mark. He also took fourth in the 200 (22.63).
