The basketball elite for 2015-16 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference were announced Wednesday.
Trey Bardsley of Nebraska Wesleyan has been selected as the Hauff Mid-America Sports/Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men’s Basketball Player-of-the-Year and headlines the GPAC Basketball All-Conference Teams for 2015-16. Bardsley, a senior, averaged 28.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game for the Prairie Wolves who were second in the GPAC regular season, going 15-5 in league play.
Other GPAC basketball honorees for 2015-16 include: Defensive Player-of-the-Year Bryan Forbes from Briar Cliff; Freshman-of-the-Year Erich Erdman, also from Briar Cliff; and the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Coach-of-the-Year Nic Nelson of Briar Cliff. The All-GPAC Basketball Teams and honors are selected by the league’s 11 head coaches.
Deaundra Young of the College of Saint Mary has been selected as the Hauff Mid-America Sports/Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Year and headlines the GPAC Basketball All-Conference Teams for 2015-16. Young, a senior, averaged 23.3 points, 13.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.9 blocks per game for the Flames who are in their first year as a GPAC member.
Other GPAC basketball honorees for 2015-16 include: Defensive Player-of-the-Year Mycah Hulst from Dordt; Freshman-of-the-Year Kassidy DeJong from Northwestern; and the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Coach-of-the-Year Jamie Sale from Morningside. The All-GPAC Basketball Teams and honors are selected by the league’s 12 head coaches.
