Morningside and Briar Cliff advanced to the second round of the NAIA men’s basketball tourney in Sioux Falls Thursday.

Morningside, improving to 28-3, posted 16 of the contest’s first 26 points against North Star Athletic Association tournament champion Mayville State University and didn’t look back. Hitting 90-points-or-more for the 14th time this season, the Mustangs turned away the eighth-seeded Comets 90-55.

The Briar Cliff men’s basketball team picked up a 103-88 win over Olivet Nazarene in the opening round of the the NAIA DII Men’s Basketball National Championship on Thursday at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Dakota Wesleyan and Jamestown join the other two GPAC squads in Friday’s second round.
