Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts wants the next two-year state budget to cut more than spending.

The governor says he wants to have conversations with lawmakers about reducing property taxes.

The state’s 680-million dollar Cash Reserve – or Rainy Day – Fund may help out as well.

He says any tax cuts will have to fit within the budget.

State revenue is forecast to be lower than current spending can sustain.
