Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts calls the recently concluded trade mission to Japan his best trade mission to date
Ricketts says a change in United States trade policy is needed to increase sales of American beef to Japan.
Ricketts points out Nebraska beef exports to Japan have grown 26-percent, which triggered a higher tariff. That could cause Japan to look elsewhere for beef, especially Australia
Ricketts says Japanese business and political officials want the United States to embrace the Trans Pacific Partnership. He says he advised them to look instead to sign a new, bilateral agreement with the U.S.
