No tax increases – that from Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts as he continues to trim the budget to reduce the load on residents.
Ricketts says Nebraska reduced the growth of government by 90% since he took office and instead of a budget increase of 6 1/2% a year it is now down to 0.6%. Those cuts have officials at the University of Nebraska a bit nervous. Ricketts says they take up about 13% to 14% of the state’s budget.
Ricketts says he will continue to go back to the Legislature to see how they can continue to reduce government growth and spending. He is digging in his heels and promising no tax increases for residents.
