Deep budget cuts proposed by Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts have been scaled back by the legislature’s Appropriations Committee.
Committee chair, Senator John Stinner of Gering, says the committee has decided to go along with a recommendation for two percent across-the-board cuts this fiscal year, but not the four percent cuts next year
Stinner, though, remains concerned the cash reserve fund has dropped below 300-Million dollars.
The budget has yet to come to the legislative floor for debate.
