Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts’ major tax cut package failed to attract enough votes to overcome a filibuster in the Unicameral.

It appears dead for the session.

Senator Burke Harr of Omaha led the opposition during legislative floor debate, making a number of arguments, including that this proposal is moving ahead of possible tax changes on the federal level. . .

Bill sponsor, Senator Jim Smith of Papillion, saw the bill fall six votes short of the total needed to cut off debate and go to a vote. . .

When asked if it could be revived this session, Smith simply says it’s hard for him to see a path forward.
