Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton says he’s willing to call a special session to work on unfinished business, including a transportation bill. That’s provided some of his requests are met. One is for the legislature to provide funding for a health sciences building at the University of Minnesota. He says he’ll spell out the rest after Memorial Day. Republican State Senator Bill Weber of Luverne says he’s concerned the Governor is focusing on other issues, rather than getting a bonding bill passed.
He’s also unhappy with the Governor’s horse trading tactics and says he’s not paying attention to what the people want government to get done.
Weber says the DFL-led Senate struck down the bonding legislation Republicans came up with at the end of the regular session. He says without that, there’s no money to complete the Lewis and Clark Rural Water project.
Weber is also concerned state lawmakers failed to pass a transportation measure.
