Monday, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad signed into law the Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Funding legislation. The money goes toward ethanol and biodiesel blender pumps. Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Policy Director Grant Menke says this measure gives the state’s consumers more fuel choices and benefits the economy, as well as the environment.
He says the popularity of the program has been sparked by the USDA’s Biofuels Infrastructure Partnership program.
Menke says this legislation provides funding through June 30 of 2017. He says their next goal is to work with state lawmakers to develop a long term funding source for continuing the program.
The Iowa Renewable Fuels Infrastructure program offers cost share grants to Iowa retailers wishing to upgrade fueling infrastructure to offer registered E15, E85 and biodiesel blends.
