Governor Appoints New South Dakota Senator to Vacant District 16 Seat

Governor Dennis Daugaard has appointed William Shorma of Dakota Dunes to the vacant Senate seat in District 16. Shorma succeeds Senator Dan Lederman who resigned earlier this year.
Shorma says he is excited by the opportunity.

Shorma was President and part owner of Shur-Co and Truxedo companies both in Yankton, and is currenty C.E.O. of Rush-Co in Springfield.
Shorma says the timing is right for him to join the legislature.

Shorma says he likes to meet people, and plans to be out in the district.

The appointment is effective immediately. Shorma will serve the remind of the term, which expires after the 2016 election. District 16 includes all of Union County, and southern and eastern portions of Lincoln County.
