Governor Dennis Daugaard has activated the South Dakota Drought Task Force, which held its first meeting this week. Representing the State Agriculture Department on the panel is Deputy State Ag Secretary Kyle Holt. He says the two areas hardest hit so far by drought are in western and northeastern South Dakota.
He says one of the biggest problems producers are dealing with is the lack of hay and feed.
Holt says there are several state agencies represented on the task force. One of the biggest contributions from the state ag department is their wildfire Division.
He says the task force will meet again in the next few weeks to keep on top of the drought and see what programs and assistance they may be able to provide.
