A number of business owners joined Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts as he held a news conference to tout his proposal to cut the top individual income tax rate.
Bruckman Rubber owner Jack Schreiner of Hastings says the tax cut would allow him to invest more in the business.
Entrepreneur and lawyer Kurt Arganbright of Valentine points out most small business owners pay individual income taxes. He says Valentine struggles to compete with South Dakota, only nine miles away.
The governor proposes to cut the top income tax rate a percent per year when state tax revenue exceeds three-and-a-half percent. After fully implemented, the rate would drop from 6-point-84 percent to 5-point-99 percent.
