Gophers, Huskers Earn Bids

The Big Ten Conference will be represented by three teams in the NCAA baseball tourney with Minnesota, Nebraska and Ohio State earning spots in the 64-team field.

Regular season champion Minnesota will play in the regional at College Station, Texas. The Gophers are in after a five year drought. Their first game comes Friday afternoon against Wake Forest.

Nebraska is in the NCAA baseball tournament and assigned to the regional in Clemson, South Carolina.

The Cornhuskers (37-20) are a No. 3 seed and will meet No. 2 Oklahoma State (36-20) on Friday at 11 a.m. Central. The other first-round game pits No. 4 Western Carolina (30-29) against top-seeded Clemson (42-18) at 6.

NCAA selection committee chairman Joel Erdman says Nebraska was among the last three teams picked. The other two were Southeast Louisiana and South Alabama.

Big Ten tourney champ Ohio State was also selected.
