Minnesota senior Rachel Banham is the consensus choice for Big Ten Women’s Basketball Player of the Year.

Banham was chosen as Player of the Year by both conference coaches and media. The guard from Lakeville was a unanimous All-Big Ten First Team selection announced Monday.

In Big Ten play, Banham averaged a record 30.5 points per game. She broke the 31-year-old record of 529 points — an average of 29.4 points per game — set by Northwestern’s Anucha Browne.

Banham also set a season record with 75 3-pointers made in Big Ten play.

Gophers sophomore Carlie Wagner was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team rosters by both voting panels. Senior Shayne Mullaney is Minnesota’s Big Ten sportsmanship honoree.
